In the course of over 10 years experience as the Fire Officer and Departmental Safety Officer in the Institute of Geography and Earth Sciences, formerly the Institute of Earth Studies, formerly the department of Geography at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, formerly The University College of Wales, Aberystwyth Ian Laidlaw has built up an extensive knowledge of safety related issues. He prepared and maintained laboratory and field safety programmes for all 700 students and 55 staff in the Department and also organised regular First Aid courses.
In recent years he has worked for Mitie PFI producing the full safety documentation for the cleaning and building maintenance staff of three schools in Leeds. He has in co-operation with his business partners produced extensive method statements and safety training for the staff of Laidlaw Enterprises.
